Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department
INDIANAPOLIS-- On October 14 at approximately 2 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to 5020 East 16th Street on the report of an attempted robbery of the Dollar General Store.
Prior to the officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the business after being confronted by an armed security guard. During the course of the investigation, officers learned this was the fourth robbery of this particular business in past six days. In all four robberies, the witnesses’ description of the suspect remained consistent. The suspect was described as wearing a dark jacket and wearing a red “Iron Man” style mask.
A sergeant from the Robbery Unit responded to the store due to his knowledge of the previous robberies at this location. The sergeant completed his interviews of the witnesses and began driving around the neighborhoods near this store to look for the suspect. The sergeant noticed a male matching the robbery suspect’s description in the 1900 block of North Emerson Avenue.
As the officers approached this male, they noticed a red “Iron Man” style mask fall to the ground from underneath his jacket. After detaining this male, the witnesses were brought to this location, and they positively identified the male as the individual who attempted to rob the business.
The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Bruce Hill of Indianapolis. Hill is alleged to have committed the robberies at the Dollar General Store on the following dates:
· October 8 (PD15-117112)
· October 12 (PD15-118531)
· October 13 (PD15-119245)
· October 14 (PD15-119503)
Hill was arrested for robbery and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center. These cases will be reviewed by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office for a charging decision.
