ICN review of Terre Haute in 2015: I) Mayor Duke Bennett (R) wins third term amid city's financial drama regarding the city budget and Powerdyne sludge-to-diesel related contracts; 2) Terre Haute becomes the seventh city in Indiana with a gender identity-inclusive ordinance protecting LGBT Hoosiers from discrimination after city council voted unanimously to amend the ordinance; 3) An afternoon drunk-driving crash had Rose-Hulman campus on edge as students were extricated from the flipped vehicle; 4) Terre Haute Police held a couple of standoffs to apprehend wanted suspects; 5) Large crowd of teachers and concerned citizens for public education demonstrate at rally held outside the Vigo County Public Library on two occasions; 6) A young mother was found dead in a lake after her car ran off the roadway; 7) Arson keeps investigators busy, with a northside warehouse fire being the largest of the year; and 8) A couple of police-action shooting happened in 2015, with one suspect suffering fatal shot near Meadows Shopping Center early in the year.
