Twenty minutes closures expected VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces State Road 46 will have periodic closures under I-70 on Friday, September 25. The contractor will be demolishing a bridge pier between the northbound and southbound lanes of S.R. 46. The contractor will begin the closures around 9 p.m., weather permitting. There will be short-term closures up to 20 minutes in both lanes of S.R. 46. If the work is not completed it will continue Monday, September 29 at 9 p.m. The S.R. 641 contract was awarded to Beaty Construction, Inc. from Boggstown for $46.8 million. This is the last section of the bypass to be constructed and it runs from just south of Moyer Road to the I-70 interchange. The S.R. 641 project includes the construction of a new four-lane, full access control roadway connecting U.S. 41 southeast of Terre Haute to I-70 east of the city. The entire bypass should be open to traffic by the fall of 2016. The first section of the S.R. 641 bypass opened in October of 2010, it takes motorists from U.S. 41 to McDaniel Road.
