Indiana Central News INDIANAPOLIS – Officers found a large amount of drugs and cash setting out in plain view at an Indianapolis residence after responding to a report of shots fired last weekend. While no arrests were made in a subsequent search of the house, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives recovered a substantial amount of narcotics and other items from the scene, including:
IMPD officers arrived at the scene in the 1300 block of N. Ewing Street last Saturday, just before 8:40 p.m.,when a caller stated shots were fired from a house in the area. The caller reportedly saw a group of "black males flee, leaving in a white Chevrolet Impala, carrying black trash bags," according to the IMPD press release today. After seeing the stash, officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence before obtaining the search warrant, according to the report.

Indiana Central News An early morning bicyclist was arrested in Vermillion County after fleeing from a sheriff's deputy who had stopped to check on him while on patrol Wednesday. Lucas A. Sanders, 38, of Clinton, was booked into the Vermillion Co. Jail and charged with resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana. He remains held in the jail on $7,000 bond. Deputy Keith Warner suffered injuries from a fall during the foot chase with the suspect and is currently on light duty at the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department. According to the report, Warner -- noticing indicators of illegal activity -- asked Sanders if he had anything illegal on him during the interaction, which occurred just before 2 a.m. "Lucas consented to a pat-down search, but then attempted to strike Deputy Warner with his right elbow and then fled on foot, " according to the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department. A subsequent foot chase ensued. "Lucas ran through a driveway and backyard of a residence and then ran into a utility trailer in the backyard and fell to the ground, where additional officers arrived and assisted with taking Sanders into custody," the report states. -- Assisting Officers: Clinton Patrolman D'auria, Deputy Ellis, Fairview Deputy Marshal Stafford. |
