I had a good 45th birthday yesterday. I spent most of the day in Indianapolis with an old friend I met several years ago while we both worked at the Brazil Times.
Before I left town, I stopped by the ISU stadium with my neighbor to visit Tent City for homecoming celebrations. I skipped the parade for the first time in several years, although I typically enjoy that part of the weekend each year.
I got to experience Uber while in Indianapolis. I was very impressed with the transportation app you download on your phone. The driver arrived quickly and the fares were reasonable. I was thinking, it would be good to have that service in Terre Haute someday.
My friend and I also went on the Indy Brew Bus to visit four craft breweries. The cost per ticket is $30. That is expensive, however, the breweries are spaced pretty far apart. It was interesting, but for the most part, I really didn't like most of the beer samples I tried at the different locations. That trip around Indianapolis lasted nearly four hours and we were pretty tired by the end of the evening.
I was glad the driver was knowledgeable about the breweries. He gave the group a short introduction to each place before we went inside. We spent about 35 minutes at each stop. I'd have to say Sun King had the best selection and service out of the few we tried along the way.
I see where the Indy Brew Bus coordinators often tie the tour into museum stops. I think it is a great idea for downtown and might consider doing that if I plan a trip there again someday. I guess that is another idea that could possibly be done locally.
