Since I started Indiana Central News on a whim in February, I became ready for anything that would happen -- and, oh boy, did it happen!
The news just keeps on rolling.
My year in review video is complete and I'm sharing it now, maybe prematurely. If I've learned anything about Vigo County and the surrounding area which ICN covers, it's to be prepared for something to come up at anytime -- in the next 10 minutes, next hour or day. In that event, I'll go back and add highlights to the slideshow, if needed.
I've been paying as close attention as possible to all my beats. I apologize for not covering some things. I do hope you've all appreciated what local news I've been delivering up to this point.
My passion for this field, no doubt, became intensified when I began mainly covering my hometown,Terre Haute. However, you'll notice evidence of the smaller- town reporter in me coming out when I cover events. I believe that's a wonderful show of my many years of experience combined with doing what I'm able to do on a low budget. I'm juggling several different roles all in one, while keeping objectivity a priority.
Sifting through the files of my memory and all of the ICN 2015 content (plus a couple photos transitioning into ICN from January) in order to highlight my most popular stories for the year wasn't an easy task. I really did see a lot out there, especially close to my South 19th Street home! My little camera has gotten excessive use and I hope it holds up for 2016.
What a year it's been. I've honestly loved 2015; and with around 10 more days to go, I know it isn't over yet!
In looking ahead to 2016, I'm excited for the possibility of seeing work begin on a new Terre Haute Police station and I'm definitely looking forward to getting closer to the construction of the Margaret Avenue overpass! Additionally, I think proposed renovation of Hulman Center and plans for a new county jail are the wish list for many Terre Haute residents.
Thank you to the many people I've been following. I often glimpsed first- hand how hard local law enforcement officers work. And all the local firefighters and paramedics! It's amazing skill. ICN would obviously be lacking without you all! Also, thanks to the elected and appointed individuals who've been in the center of my coverage. I think many people are still trying to figure out what in the world I'm doing, actually.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and best wishes in the New Year, ICN readers! Please keep clicking and continue to support ICN with donations by using the link provided on this website.
