Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
ELNORA, Ind. - Wabash Valley Correctional Facility offenders from Carlisle assisted with preparing for the White River Valley Antique Association's event in Elnora, Indiana. Bill Bays, President of the White River Valley Antique Association had this to say about the four-man crew: "The crew was very polite and very good workers. We are eager to have them return." The crew helped with a number of projects in preparation for the event. They put new riff raff under the covered bridge. They cleaned several buildings including the consignment, the home spun hand crafters big building, the church, the school house and the restrooms. The crew completed several time consuming tasks that volunteers do not have time to do before the event. "It's a wonderful opportunity for the men to give back to the community." Currently, Wabash Valley Correctional Facility has five work crews assisting Sullivan, Knox, Greene, Daviess, Vigo, Vanderburgh, Clay and Parke counties. Background The White River Valley Antique Association is focused on preserving the past, so that future generations can see what it was like. The organization started out as a small antique tractor exhibit show and has now grown into a 4 -day event! Children from various schools, as well as home schooled children, come to share in the experience. Comments are closed.
