![]() Indiana State Police Today, 46 probationary troopers from the 75th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy class were issued their state police cars at the Indiana State Police Youth Education and Historical Center which is adjacent to the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District. Three of the officers are assigned to the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post and start solo patrol in the district which covers Parke, Vermillion, Vigo, Clay, Putnam, and Sullivan counties. The probationary officers recently completed a three month field training period with veteran troopers. They will serve a one year probationary period before attaining permanent status as a trooper. In addition to the field training, the new officers received approximately 917 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques when they were assigned to Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. The curriculum included criminal law instruction, emergency vehicle operations training, psychology, and survival Spanish. They also developed skills in criminal investigation, vehicle crash investigation, and impaired driver prevention and detection. The new Putnamville troopers now on solo patrol are: Justin B. Bell, age 27, is a graduate of Sullivan High School and served four years at the Sullivan County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office until his appointment to the ISP academy. Bell is also a graduate of the Indiana Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Session 11-191. He enjoys sports and physical fitness. Bell and his wife and two children reside in Sullivan County. Bell will be assigned primarily to Sullivan County. Bradley J. Fyfe, age 26, is a graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School. Fyfe was a pharmacy technician prior to graduating from the ISP Academy. He enjoys SCUBA diving and other sports. Fyfe and his wife and child reside in Vermillion County. He will be primarily assigned to Vigo County. William B. Miller, age 31, is a graduate of Sullivan High School, Vincennes University, and the Indiana Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Session 05-163. Miller served the last ten years as a deputy sheriff for Sullivan County Indiana. Miller comes from a law enforcement family as his father, Bill Miller, is currently the Warren County Indiana Sheriff, his brother Donald Miller is currently a Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Deputy, and his grandfather, James C. Miller, served with the Indiana State Police, in the early years of the ISP. Bell has other cousins and uncles that are or have been retired from, the Indiana State Police and other local agencies. He and wife and two children reside in Sullivan County. Miller will be primarily assigned to Sullivan County. Comments are closed.
