Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
The Holliday season is in full swing and that means Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) quilters have been working around the clock to fill Christmas orders. Purposeful Living Units Serve (PLUS) participants have wrapped one annual tradition, making quilts and Christmas stockings for Vigo County Big Brothers/Big Sisters (BB/BS). This year PLUS Program Coordinator Jackie Storm said 275 quilts and stockings were donated to the organization. “Big Brothers/Big Sisters does so much for young people in Vigo County and it gives our participants a lot of joy and purpose in helping out any way they can,” Storm said.
PLUS is a faith and character based housing unit with a strong emphasis on community service. Holly Mullenix, BB/BS Program Coordinator said, “The kids get toys, candy and other things, but the PLUS quilts are what they look forward to getting the most!”
The goal of Vigo County Big Brothers/Big Sisters is to help all children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with volunteer mentors. Comments are closed.
