Division of Law Enforcement MICHIGAN CITY – Indiana Conservation Officer Tyler Brock received the Unsung Hero Award at the 2016 Annual Michigan City - LaPorte Recognition of Service Excellence (R.O.S.E.) Awards Ceremony. Officer Brock was nominated by an anonymous member of the public for the award after his response to a multi-vehicle crash on US 20 on March 8, 2016. A photograph taken by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office showing Brock consoling a 6 year-old crash victim quickly went viral through social media. Officer Brock met with the victim and her family afterwards and has kept in touch with her since the day of the incident. “I was just in the right place and the right time and can say with confidence that any other officer or first responder would have done the same thing” stated Brock. The R.O.S.E. program started in May 1999, to highlight LaPorte County’s exceptional individuals who provide service above and beyond what they are required to do. The event was hosted by the The LaPorte County Convention & Visitors Bureau and held at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium. Officer Brock has served as an Indiana Conservation Officer for five years and currently lives and works in LaPorte County. Indiana Conservation Officers would like to say congratulations to Officer Brock on his award. Comments are closed.
