Terre Haute is 200! This year, 2016, marks two hundred years since the original town of Terre Haute was platted in 1816. And to celebrate, the Vigo County Historical Society and the Indiana Theatre are throwing a Birthday Celebration on Sunday, Nov. 6. The doors of the Indiana Theatre will open at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, available at the door. Kids 12 and under are free. Cash bar and concessions will be available for purchase. Come out and join the party! On the stage at 2 p.m. enjoy “200 Years on the Banks of the Wabash”, the story of Terre Haute from its pioneer days on the prairie, the Civil War and the Gay ‘90s, through the Roaring ‘20s, World War II, and the Rock-n-Roll ‘50s, to the city of today. Complimentary cake, champagne, wine and lemonade will be served in the Lobby following the performance. The Vigo County Historical Society will be presenting the first annual History Maker Awards to Mike McCormick and Dorothy Jerse for their outstanding efforts to preserve and promote our local history! Bring your family and friends out to celebrate 200 years! Comments are closed.
