INDIANAPOLIS – A prominent east side Indianapolis pastor whose congregation focuses on ministry beyond the sanctuary is practicing what he preaches this weekend by hosting a Free Gas Giveaway Saturday, April 2nd at the Marathon station located at 5060 East 38th Street.
Senior Pastor Bishop Lambert W. Gates, Sr., and members of Kingdom Apostolic Ministries (formerly Mt. Zion Apostolic Church) will help pump the gas for motorists between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. or for as long as the supply lasts.
Bishop Gates explains, “These are particularly challenging times for everyone, in the aftermath of a global health crisis. In the midst of an economy that leaves many in our east side community struggling, we at Kingdom Apostolic Ministries understand the burden placed on people with rising gas prices and inflation.
“The Bible compels God’s people to step in wherever possible and give what we can, when we can. II Corinthians 9:7 reads: “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
No appointment, voucher or registration is required. All drivers will need to do is line up at the pump in an orderly fashion to receive this unconventional blessing. Gates points out this is only one of many examples of continuous east side community projects driven by the church’s outreach ministry headed by Associate Pastor Denise Moore.
KAM outreach includes a food pantry, health screenings, neighborhood cleanup, Thanksgiving food baskets and onsite meals, winter coat distribution, youth tutoring, blood drives, Christmas toy giveaway and Community Day with games, prizes, food and free clothing for those in the neighborhood.
Kingdom Apostolic Ministries is located at 4900 East 38th Street. The church is celebrating its 100th anniversary as part of the Indianapolis community.
