Members of the Cincinnati Police Department reportedly were able to take Aurs into custody where he was later located after an hour -long standoff on Interstate 75.
The IMPD reports that Aurs was immediately suspended without pay and pending termination of employment from department. The suspect's assigned police vehicle and duty belt have been recovered.
According to the report, IMPD officers responded to Valley Ridge Apartments in reference a domestic violence call involving the off-duty IMPD officer and his estranged wife, according to a press release. When officers and an on-duty supervisor arrived at about 8:30 p.m., the IMPD officer suspect was not on-scene and the Special Investigations Unit investigator followed up a short time later.
