Vigo County Sheriff's Office During the past few days, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports from citizens about a phone call they received from a “Captain Steven Davenport” regarding a warrant. “This is absolutely a scam” Sheriff Greg Ewing said. The caller is claiming to be with the VCSO Warrant and Citation Division and informs them that they need to send a $2,000 money order to avoid arrest.
The VCSO does not have an employee with the name “Captain Steven Davenport” and nor do they have a Warrant and Citation Division. “We do not call wanted people on the phone demanding money” Sheriff Ewing said. Detectives with the VCSO are continuing to follow leads in this case. People are reminded that scams increase during the holiday season and scammers are very good at convincing you to give up your money. When in doubt, check it out. Comments are closed.
