Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
CARLISLE -- Sullivan County resident Kelly Sweazey has been promoted at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF). The nearly 12 year WVCF veteran has advanced to Correctional Caseworker at the maximum-security prison. Ms. Sweazey began her career as a Correctional Officer in September of 2004, working a variety of custody posts from relief to housing unit officer. She spent the past seven years monitoring offender movement in the south campus chow hall. Nearly 1000 offenders pass through the hall for meals three times a day. “I think the post really fine tuned my safety, security and above all communication skills,“ Sweazey said. During her time in the custody ranks she became QRT (Quick Response Team) and Field Training Officer certified. The new Caseworker said she will now provide offenders in her assigned housing unit with counseling and resource assistance, literally all the tools necessary for a successful transition back into society. Ms. Sweazey is currently attending Oakland City University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Comments are closed.
