The City of Terre Haute will have a city-wide cleanup this Saturday, Oct. 22. The City of Terre Haute and Republic Services organizes city-wide cleanups in the Spring and Fall of each year. You can volunteer for our cleanup and help make your neighborhood and city look their very best! On Oct. 22, volunteers will meet in the rear parking lot of the Terre Haute Police Department, 1211 Wabash Av. Volunteers will be given a route map, gloves and bags. The cleanup will run from 8 a.m. to Noon, and include several targeted areas in the city. Once again, several open top dumpsters will be placed in the targeted areas. They will be located at Maple Avenue Park, 500 Maple Ave.; Boys & Girls Club, 924 N. 13th St.; City Hall, 17 Harding Ave.; Herz-Rose Park, 1515 Locust; Meadows Center, 300 S. 25th St.; TH Police Department, 1211 Wabash Ave.; and Farrington Grove Area, 1304 S. 6th St. Hazardous waste, including but not limited to refrigeration units, chemicals, tires and batteries, will not be taken. The City reminds all citizens to be good stewards of the environment; you can help by cleaning up around your own property, street and alley. If you would like to volunteer for the Oct. 22 citywide cleanup please just show up at 8 a.m. in the parking lot of the TH Police Department. Mayor Bennett continues his unprecedented effort to make Terre Haute a cleaner city through his Community Corrections Cleanup program and partnerships with Republic Services, TREES Inc., The Vigo County Solid Waste District, Keep America Beautiful, and numerous businesses and volunteer organizations.
