Crews will be setting bridge beams beginning Monday night
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announce U.S. 41 will have 20 minute closures under I-70 in Vigo County beginning Monday, July 25 during the overnight hours. The closures will be between the hours of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting. Crews will be setting beams on the I-70 bridges above. These temporary stoppages will occur in 20 minute increments during construction. Traffic will be allowed to clear before motorists are stopped again. It is anticipated this work will continue for three nights.
Superior Construction Co. was awarded this bridge deck replacement project on I-70 for $6.9 million. This project includes replacing the decks on both bridges over U.S. 41 and Thompson Ditch and theIndiana Railroad. The project is scheduled for completion in October of 2018.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
Rolling slow-down scheduled for I-70 traffic Tuesday
Westbound drivers will experience this slow-down
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces a rolling slow-down is scheduled for I-70 westbound in Vigo County on Tuesday, July 26, weather permitting. This will begin after 10 p.m. and will allow the contractor to set a box truss over I-70 near the 12 mile marker.
Indiana State Police will be assisting with this rolling slow-down. Electronic message boards will alert motorists of the rolling slowdown. Drivers may wish to seek an alternate route.
The S.R. 641 contract was awarded to Beaty Construction, Inc. from Boggstown for $46.8 million. This is the last section of the bypass to be constructed and it runs from just south of Moyer Road to the I-70 interchange. The S.R. 641 project includes the construction of a new four-lane, full access control roadway connecting U.S. 41 southeast of Terre Haute to I-70 east of the city. The entire bypass should be open to traffic by late this year. The first section of the S.R. 641 bypass opened in October of 2010, it takes motorists from U.S. 41 to McDaniel Road.
