Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
CARLISLE –On Monday, Feb. 26, the offenders at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility welcomed guest speaker Carlos Christian. Christian served a 10 year sentence in Marion Correctional Institution in Marion, Ohio for drug related charges.
During his incarceration he took a hard look at his life and where he wanted to go. That’s when he entered Marion Technical College as a business major and started in an Administrative Office Technology program. He completed both while incarcerated.
Upon release, Christian founded the Starts Within Organization. The organization focuses on what Christian referred to as, “A Victorious Mind Set.” The program is geared towards helping incarcerated individuals find what it will take to be their best self. Christian also shared his work with young fathers. He discussed family and taking personal responsibility for changing not only your own life, but also that of your children. He explained that change is not easy, but worth it. “When you do what’s hard, your life will be easy. When you do what’s easy, your life will be hard,” he said. He also noted that every person is unique and that each person has a contribution to make to society. Comments are closed.
