Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
CARLISLE– Recently Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) donated 64 boxes of food to local charities. Each box weighed approximately 45 pounds. The food donations included corn, green beans and peas, to name a few. Ten of the boxes contained food gathered during a recent fund raising event, while 54 boxes contained food collected as part of the State of Indiana CANstruction Food Drive. It was a competition initiated between all state agencies to collect canned goods for the holiday season. The event united the residents of Indiana as they worked to help their fellow Hoosiers. WVCF donated the canned goods they collected to the Salvation Army and God’s Pantry of Knox County, Our Father’s Arms of Sullivan County and Odon Food Pantry of Daviess County. Monetary donations totaling $2,550 were also given to the Knox County Salvation Army. WVCF staff and offenders came together to help meet the needs expressed by Knox County. Giving back to the community is something WVCF prides its self on. When asked about the fund raising events that WVCF participated in, Warden Dick Brown stated the following, “I could not be happier with the way that our staff and offenders contribute to charities. It is a testimony to the atmosphere were are working to create at WVCF.” Comments are closed.
