Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
CARLISLE -- “Propeller Pals” is flying high after delivering Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) cargo to the Air Evac Lifeteam! The WVCF Purposeful Living Units Serve (PLUS) sewing crew created stuffed animals and pillow quilts for youngsters needing to board the rapid medical support chopper. The PLUS toys help calm sick or injured children, easing the stress that can come with an unexpected emergency flight. “Our PLUS participants couldn’t wait to take off on this project,” said PLUS Coordinator Jackie Storm. “What a great way to give back to community by helping little ones feel maybe just a little bit better during a scary time in their lives.” The Air Evac crew touched down for the toy pickup at the Baesler’s Market lot in Linton, Indiana, culminating a team effort between WVCF and How Charming Photography which launched “Propeller Pals.” “ We appreciate being able to offer such a wonderful, comforting little animal to the children,” said Lori Mayle, Program Director for the Brazil, Indiana based Air Evac Lifeteam unit. The 25 Wabash Valley PLUS toys, everything from stuffed frogs to ponies and 25 pillow quilts, will benefit children in the 70 mile radius covered by Air Evac. The WVCF faith and character based housing unit is ready to make additional stuffed toys when the current supply runs low. Last year PLUS made over 5,000 quilts and related items with donated materials to benefit the needy in the Wabash Valley area. -- About Air Evac Lifeteam: Air Evac Lifeteam is a membership-supported air ambulance company that provides emergency care and rapid medical transport to rural communities throughout the US.
