15-year-old Sullivan Co. teen fatally shot by Carlisle school

SULLIVAN COUNTY - A teenager was shot and killed early Thursday morning while standing in a crowd at a Sullivan County intersection.

Mezmariah L. Wilson, 15, of Shelburn, died shortly after being transported to an Indianapolis area hospital, from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Information is limited at this time, including the name of a possible suspect, as the investigation is ongoing.

According to Sgt. Matt Ames, of the Indiana State Police,  there was a large gathering of two separate groups near the school in Carlisle just after midnight, when a the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots.

Ames notes there appears to have been an argument between the two groups prior to the shooting.
