Detectives from Vigo and Clay County Sheriff Departments teamed up to execute a search warrant at a Brazil residence yesterday, resulting in two suspects being charged with drug and property- related offenses. A destructive device with a fuse was also found at the residence, requiring a bomb squad to assist at the scene.
Jerry D. Hull, 57, and Karen R. Hull, 51, both of Brazil, were arrested at the scene. Both suspects were booked in for dealing methamphetamines, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of stolen property.
“This is just another example of what can happen when you have a great working relationship with outside law enforcement agencies” Chief Deputy John Moats said.
The search warrant at 706 East Pinckley St. reportedly revealed several stolen firearms, large amounts of ammunition and a stolen utility vehicle. Items consistent with large scale methamphetamine distribution and a large sum of money were also found at that residence, according to a Vigo County Sheriff's Office press release today.
"While documenting the drug evidence a suspicious package was found and had what appeared to be a fuse attached. The Indiana State Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene and disposed of the device after confirming it to be a destructive device," Moats explained, adding that the case is an ongoing investigation with the potential of additional charges at a later date.
