Kevin L. Byerley, 44, was booked into the Sullivan County Jail at about 12:40 a.m., where he faces a felony charge of impersonating a police officer. Sullivan County Park and Lake officials contacted local law enforcement just after witnesses say Byerley was following two teenage girls toward the restroom facilities at the park, Conservation Officer Nathan Lutz said. When the parent of one of the teenagers approached, Byerley claimed he was the 'Conservation Officer from Fairbanks Landing,'"Lutz said, noting Byerley had a handgun exposed in his waistband. Conservation officers took him into custody without incident.
