Indiana Central News SULLIVAN - A late night traffic stop resulted in the arrest of one suspect on drug charges in Sullivan Wednesday. The passenger, James H. Hightshoe, 51, Vevay, Ind., was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and charged with the following:
Indiana State Trooper William Clark was patrolling the area just after 11 p.m., when he noticed a Pontiac Grand Prix disregard a stop sign. According to Sgt. Matt Ames, of the ISP, a female juvenile was driving Highshoe's car and displayed signs of impairment. She failed a certified test and was was cited and released to her parents. Criminal activity was detected, Ames said. A subesequent search of the car yielded methamphetamine, four hypodermic syringes, marijuana and paraphernalia. The Sullivan City Police Department assisted at the scene. By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY - An Indiana State Police child abuse investigation regarding an injured baby resulted in the arrest of a Farmersburg couple. Both suspects were taken into custody on a warrant and were booked into the Sullivan County Jail Thursday around 4 p.m. They are charged as follows:
Nancy I. Sperling, 25
Austin L. Barnard, 26
The investigation began in mid-May, on allegations from the Sullivan County Department of Child Services that the 8-month-old baby had been neglected and abused. Sgt. Matt Ames, of the ISP, explained that the young victim had suffered injuries and was subjected to ongoing danger in their care. |
