Indiana Central News VERMILLION COUNTY - A Vigo County woman arrested on a warrant in Vermillion County this morning now faces drug charges as well. Alexis Kelty, 24, was wanted in Vigo County for felony neglect of a dependent, according to the Vermillion County Sheriff's Office. She was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine in Vermillion County and was booked into Vermillion County Jail with bond set at $10,000,10 percent allowed. She has a warrant hold for Vigo County. Officers located Kelty at a rural Hillsdale residence around 9:30 a.m. and served the arrest warrant. According to the report, while taking her into custody, officers located items associated with methamphetamine. ![]()

Indiana Central News FARMERSBURG- Two men were arrested following an early morning fight with shots fired in Sullivan County yesterday. Tyler Gilbert , 24, of Terre Haute and Riley McConnell, 21, of Shelburn, were booked into the Sullivan County Jail around 6 p.m. Gilbert was charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury - a level six felony. His bond was set at $8,000. with ten percent allowed. McConnell was charged with criminal reklessness with a deadly weapon - level five felony. His bond was set at $15,000. with no 10 percent allowed. Evidence was processed at the scene where shots were fired at the residence and arrest warrants for Gilbert and McConnell were obtained. The Terre Haute City Police Department Special Response Team was called to assist in executing the arrest warrant for Gilbert at his residence on Park Street. And, after a lengthy search, McConnell reportedly was located hiding out at a residence in Shelburn. It was discovered that the fight started as verbal dispute at a Farmersburg tavern, with one man injured later on. According to Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom, someone had called 911 to report shots had been fired into an occupied dwelling around 4 a.m. Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the altercation in the 200 block of west Sawmill Road outside of Farmersburg around 4 a.m. They found spent bullet casings and a blood trail, Cottom said, adding that the injured resident and suspects were not at the scene upon the emergency crews' arrival. The injured man was found at a neighbor’s house a short time later. He had not been struck by rounds fired, but had been battered. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for facial lacerations a short time later. Cottom explained that the victim and a female had an argument in the home they share, when Gilbert and McConnell showed up at the residence. "Witness statements report that Gilbert physical assaulted the male resident at his front door, causing a severe laceration to the man’s face. It is then reported that McConnell, who was standing just feet behind Gilbert, fired a semi-automatic handgun towards the doorway of the residence," Cottom said. Investigators allege that a .45 caliber bullet was then shot through the exterior wall of the residence, striking several items inside the home. Cottom notes that a .45 caliber pistol, believed to be used in the incident has been recovered . "The investigation is continuing and additional charges may forthcoming," he said. Indiana State Police assisted in the investigation. |
