VERMILLION COUNTY- An Illinois man was arrested when police say he crashed into a police car during a pursuit Thursday afternoon in Vermillion County.

According to the report, an Indiana State Police trooper initiated a traffic stop on the white KIA for speeding northbound on SR 63 near CR1250 S just before 1:30 p.m. The driver disregarded the emergency lights and fled in the car. He even continued to flee northbound on deflated tires after a tire deflation device was used. Sgt. Matt Ames explained that the suspect was clocked reaching speeds around 120 mph and only stopped when crashing into a sheriff's vehicle, which had joined in the police chase. "The vehicle eventually came to a stop when it struck a Vermillion County deputy’s patrol vehicle in the rear at SR 63 and US 136," Ames said. "It was at this time that the suspect then exited the vehicle and attempted to run." Assisting: Vermillion County and Fountain County Sheriff's Departments. PUTNAM COUNTY - An Oklahoma man was arrested for a large amount of fentanyl following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Putnam County Friday afternoon.
Polo Huereca-Rivera, 40, of Oklahoma City, was booked into the Putnam County Jail and charged with dealing a narcotic drug and possession of a narcotic drug. Indiana State Police stopped the Ford Taurus near the 42-mile marker eastbound on Interstate 70 just before noon. The suspect reportedly was observed following too close with improper brake lights. Sgt. Matt Ames explained that the trooper noticed criminal indicators while interacting with the suspect. "A consent to search revealed approximately 12 pounds of suspected fentanyl. The estimated street value of the fentanyl is $250,000," Ames said. |
