Killed in the accident was 16-year-old Mallorie Cochran – a Junior at Farmersburg North Central High School. In a second vehicle, killed was Perry Deschamp - 58 of Jasonville Injured in the second vehicle was 56 year old Karla Deschamp, also of Jasonville. She remains in an Indianapolis hospital in serious but stable condition. --- By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY - One teen and one adult are dead following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Sullivan County Sunday morning. Names of the victims will be released at a later time, Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom explained, noting the investigation is ongoing. Deceased are:
Hospitalized with injuries suffered in the crash: A 56 -year- old female passenger in the second vehicle was airlifted to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. She appeared in serious, but stable condition, Cottom said. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of SR 48 and CR 200 E. just before 10:30 a.m. The Indiana State Police crash reconstructionist team was called in to assist with the investigation. -- The Indiana State Police , Sullivan City Police, Indiana Conservation Officers and the Dugger Town Marshal assisted. Sullivan County and City Ambulances, along with Shelburn and Thunderbird Fire Rescue also assisted. The Sullivan County Corner was also on scene. By Lucy Perry
Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY - A Sullivan County man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop for speeding Monday night -- which led police to his home, as well. Terry Frakes, 70, of Farmersburg, was booked into the Sullivan County Jail and charged with: Dealing methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sgt. Matt Ames of the Indiana State Police, explained that Frakes had enough methamphetamine to distribute between 900 to 3,600 doses. Following a search of his vehicle, Frakes reportedly gave consent for officers to also search his home. While there, the large amount of methamphetamine was seized. "Officers discovered two pounds of methamphetamine, digital scales, US currency and drug paraphernalia," Ames said. According to the report, the trooper was patrolling in the area of US 41 and C.R. 1125 N. around 8 p.m., when he stopped the pickup truck for exceeding the posted speed limit. Criminal activity was detected during interaction with the suspect. A canine alert was given to assisting officers. -- The Jasonville Police Department assisted Indiana State Police at the scene. |
