Firefighters from the Terre Haute Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a warehouse blaze on the north side at about 8 p.m. tonight.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and it is under investigation. The warehouse, which is located next to an apartment complex was quickly under control. A neighbor on Tippeconoe Street said he thinks the fire seems suspicious because there was another fire shortly before this one on 12th and Elm Streets this evening. Officials were still on scene at that location. ![]() PUTNAM COUNTY— Two people traveling back home from an Ohio holiday visit were transported to a Terre Haute hospital for serious injuries in an Interstate 70 crash that are not believed to be life threatening. The driver, Timothy Rich, 23, of Sikeston, Mo., suffered head and facial injuries and is reportedly admitted to the hospital and is facing drug-related charges. The passenger,21-year-old Deshion Johnson, also of Sikeston, suffered head and ankle injuries and is reportedly admitted to the hospital. According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts, Rich tested positive for marijuana and various charges are pending against him. Approximately two grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle after the one-vehicle rollover crash. ISP and Putnam County emergency agencies responded to the scene of the accident at the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 30 mile marker. "Unsafe speed appeared to be the cause of the crash with driver impairment a contributing factor," Watts said, noting that the 1998 Ford Contour passenger car was westbound on Interstate 70 when it lost control on the wet pavement. Losing control, it then went off the north side of the roadway and flipped over. The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Yan Dravigne. Assisting were Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Operation Life, and Cloverdale Fire/Rescue. |
