By Lucy Perry Indiana Central News KNOX COUNTY - An Indiana State Police drug investigation landed an Oaktown man in jail on multiple charges Monday. The investigation began when police received a tip that Blaine Phipps, 30, was allegedly dealing methamphetamine, narcotics and marijuana in, and around, the Knox and Sullivan County area, Sgt. Matt Ames said. Phipps was arrested and booked into the Knox County Jail on the following charges:
When officers arrived at the home, Phipps reportedly gave consent for his residence to be searched. "During the course of the residence being searched, officers discovered: two pounds of methamphetamine, one pound of marijuana, two and half pounds of K2, a sawed-off shotgun, numerous THC vape cartridges, and several prescription pills," Ames said. SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind.- One man is dead and another seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash in rural Sullivan County Sunday evening.
Jeremy Jewell, 40, of Carlisle, was dead at the scene. Another occupant, Isaiah Jewell, 22, also of Carlisle, had to be extricated by emergency personnel, according to Sheriff Clark Cottom. He explained that Isaiah was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital, where he remains in critical condition at this time. Emergency crews responded to the scene of the fatal crash on County Road 500 E., near County Road 650 S., northeast of Carlisle, around 5:30 p.m. Investigation revealed the Toyota Camry left the roadway, before striking a tree. It was not immediately clear which victim was driving at the time of the incident. Crash reconstructionist from the Indiana State Police were called in to assist with the investigation, Cottom said. -- Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Indiana State Police, Haddon Twp. Fire Department, Sullivan County Ambulance, Carlisle Ambulance, Air Evac Lifeteam and the Sullivan County Coroner’s Office. |
