Indiana Central News PUTNAM COUNTY— A man appearing to have a seizure and choking on chewing tobacco passed out in his car before it sped off the roadway and into a yard and mailbox in Putnam County yesterday afternoon. Steven Hornback, 43, of Lafayette, was transported to Putnam County Hospital for treatment just after the responding trooper cleared the victim’s airway of a large amount of chewing tobacco, Sgt. Joe Watts said today. According to the report Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Trooper Yan Dravigne was flagged down by a passerby in the westbound lanes of US 40 near CR 300 E for the medical emergency just before 3 p.m. The driver reportedly appeared to be unresponsive in the stalled vehicle with all doors in the black 2002 Dodge pickup locked. As Trooper Dravigne approached the vehicle, the truck reportedly accelerated, driving off the north side of the roadway and into the residential yard and mailbox. Trooper Dravigne followed the vehicle on foot for the few feet, finding the driver remaining unresponsive where it crashed. Watts explained that Trooper Dravigne utilized his collapsible baton to break out the passenger side window of the truck to unlock the doors and then administer first aid. Cloverdale Fire/Rescue units and the passerby, Indiana Department of Corrections Supervisor Kevin Orme, assisted at the scene. ![]()

Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY— Two recent Sullivan County bank robbery suspects were apprehended by police in Terre Haute yesterday, following an Indiana State Police investigation.
Police received multiple tips from the community along with the bank's clear video images --- which they credit to help solve the crime in less than three days.
According to Sgt. Joe Watts, Perry is believed to be the suspect who entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. Pegg allegedly was his accomplice near the scene. "At the time of his arrest, Perry was wearing red athletic -type shoes, as shown in the bank surveillance photos and as reported by witnesses,"Watts explained today, adding, "Pegg is believed to have driven the getaway vehicle." The vehicle has been seized as evidence in the case. -- The lead investigator was ISP Detective Angie Hahn. Assisting were ISP Detectives Sergeant Sam Stearley and Don Curtis, Troopers Ian Portteus and Justin Bell, Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom and Detective Ron Elliott, Farmersburg Town Marshal Cody Strain and the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office.
