Indiana Central News PIKE COUNTY - A teenager has died as a result of injuries suffered in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident this afternoon in Pike County. According to Indiana Conservation Officer Joe Haywood, of District 7, Kaleb S.Poehlein,14, of Winslow, had just passed another teen ATV operator when he lost conrol of his ATV and crashed. Poehlein was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. "Poehlein lost control of his ATV and hit a small ditch. His ATV went air born, hit a tree and landed upside down," Haywood said. The victim was transported to a Jasper hospital after crews were dispatched to the scene just before 3 p.m., where he was later pronounced dead. Responding agencies included Jefferson Township Fire Department, Pike County Sheriff's Department, Pike County EMS, and Indiana Conservation Officers. Indiana DNR Law Enforcement is reporting that District 7 officers are responding to a separate ATV crash with serious injuries, in Spencer, a short time after this fatality. Comments are closed.
