Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY - A Wabash Valley Correctional Facility officer is behind bars after after correctional police arrested him at the Carlisle prison this morning for allegedly smuggling tobacco and drugs into the facility. Aaron McQuaid, 25, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, is charged with trafficking with an inmate (Level 5 Felony) and official misconduct (Level 6 Felony).He had been on the job for just one year. "During questioning by Correctional Police Officer Kevin Allen and Investigator Randy VanVleet, McQuaid reportedly admitted having tobacco in a pill bottle, a suboxone strip in his wallet along with over $180. Investigators allege he also admitted to previously smuggling 50 suboxone strips into the facility for an offender, in exchange for a $500 payoff," Public Information Officer Rich Larsen said. The investigation is ongoing at this time. However, Larsen notes McQuaid was fired and stripped of his uniform prior to transport to the Sullivan County Jail. Bond was set at $23,000. “A dirty officer tarnishes the good reputation of our staff and we intend to ask Sullivan County to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” WVCF Warden Richard Brown stated in a press release.
