Indiana Central News CARLISLE- A former Wabash Valley Correctional Facility (WVCF) correctional officer was arrested last weekend for allegedly battering an inmate at the Sullivan County prison. Sgt. Jeremy McGlynn, 27. of Terre Haute, was taken into custody on a warrant and booked into the Sullivan County Jail Sunday. He is charged with official misconduct, a Level 6 felony and battery, a Class C misdemeanor. He was released after posting bond. Wabash Valley Correctional Facility Warden Richard Brown said officials take allegations of abuse of offenders seriously. "We have a responsibility to ourselves, and the offenders we are responsible for, to hold our staff to a high standard of professionalism. While that standard was not met in this case, our definitive action demonstrates we hold our personnel accountable," he stated in a press release today. Correctional Police Officers and staff with the IDOC Investigations and Intelligence initiated an investigation the day the alleged battery took place, Feb. 5. McGlynn was placed on suspension immediately, according to a prison spokesperson. McGlynn had worked with the Indiana Department of Correction for three years, before he was terminated on Feb. 9, due to the allegations. Comments are closed.
