Farmersburg man in critical condition after crashing into semi

SULLIVAN COUNTY- A Farmersburg man is in critical condition after crashing into a semi tractor-trailer in Sullivan County last night.

Both drivers were transported to a Terre Haute hospital following the crash.

• James R. Galbraith Jr., 28, had to be extricated from his passenger car by Thunderbird Firefighters. 

• Jeffrey D. Rocca, 50,  of Indianapolis, was listed in fair condition. 

Emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of US 41 and Sawmill Road just before 10 p.m.

Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom explained last night that the truck driver, Rocca, was northbound, when Galbraith's westbound passenger car  failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection. .

"The car slid into the northbound driving lane of US 41, colliding with the undercarriage portion of the semi trailer," Cotttom said.

No citations have been issued at this time. 

US 41 northbound was closed for approximately one hour.
