PUTNAM COUNTY - An Illinois man and woman were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Putnam County yesterday afternoon. Booked into the Putnam County Jail: Driver Hannah Danneberger, 30, and her passenger Michael Oldfield, 51, both of Mattoon, were charged with dealing methamphetamine - level 2 felony and possession of methamphetamine - level 3 felony Oldfield was additionally charged with felon in possession of firearm - level 4 felony. According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, a search of the vehicle yielded 12 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $6,500. Troopers reportedly discovered Oldfield was in possession of a .40 caliber firearm. Investigation revealed that was a convicted felon. A trooper initiated the traffic stop after observing the westbound silver Nissan Altima traveling at a reduced speed in the left lane of I- 70 ,near the 44 mile marker , around 3 p.m. The trooper noticed criminal indicators during the traffic stop and Putnam County Sheriff’s K-9 was called to assist. "A positive K-9 alert to the odor of illegal drugs led to a search of the vehicle," Ames said. Comments are closed.
