INDIANAPOLIS - Undercover detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say they nabbed the suspects connected to the theft of holiday packages in a three- community area Friday, when officers found several packages inside the suspect vehicle and arrested two adults and one juvenile suspect.
Chrystopher Brubaker, 19, Ashley White, 18, and one 17-year-old juvenile suspect were taken into custody after investigators caught the trio in the act of allegedly snatching packages from a porch of an Avon area residence. Detectives notified both the Avon Police Department and the Hendricks County Sheriff Office who responded and stopped the vehicle. The suspects were all arrested and booked into the Hendricks County Jail.
"At the time of the arrest the suspects had a 9-month old baby in the car and a 6th grader of whom they had just picked-up from school. Detectives suspect that these suspects are responsible for stealing several packages over the past three weeks in the Indianapolis, Speedway and Avon communities," according to a press release. IMPD began the investigation following a series of package thefts from the porches of residents on the northwest side of Indinanpolis. According to a press release, alert victims helped detectives catch the suspects. Wtnesses were able to provide a vehicle description that included a license plate. Surveillance video capturing one of the suspects and the suspect vehicle was provided to detectives in a second theft case. Detectives using investigative techniques determined that the incidents were related and quickly identified a suspect vehicle. "Investigators provided suspect information to covert detectives who began a patterned surveillance operation over multiple times and multiple locations. Detectives from several covert units participated, and their diligence paid off" according to the report. on Friday afternoon, when undercover detectives reportedly witnessed the suspect vehicle enter an Avon neighborhood, and observed the three suspects stealing packages from a front porch.
IMPD reminds residents if you see suspicious activity use your cell phone to capture what is happening or record the information on a piece of paper and get it to law enforcement because that information could prove vital in a successful outcome.
