CLAY COUNTY -- An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a deadly blaze that claimed the life of three Brazil residents. Brazil Fire Department Chief Jake Bennett confirms that a young mother, age 18, and her 4-month-old baby were found dead at the scene of the fire that broke out at about 8:30 p.m. last night. Her brother little brother, age 4, later died after being transported to a Terre Haute hospital.
Firefighters arrived to 721 Mechanic St. to find heavy dark smoke and flames throughout both stories of the brick structure and remained on the scene for several hours. A dozen people reportedly were residing in the home. The names of the victims have not been released at this time.
