MORGAN COUNTY -- A truck driver was arrested after police discovered allegedly stolen credit cards during an Interstate 70 traffic stop this afternoon.
Ashot Shaumyan, 57, of Van Nuys, Calif., was booked into the Morgan County Jail where he is being held on felony charge of credit card fraud. Indiana State Police Trooper Yan Dravigne reportedly stopped a 2007 Volvo tractor pulling a box trailer eastbound on Interstate 70 near the 51 mile marker for a routine commercial vehicle inspection around noon. According to ISP Sgt. Joe Watts, Dravigne noticed possible indicators of criminal activity. A consensual search of the tractor revealed 10 fraudulent credit cards with stolen credit card numbers concealed in a DVD case, he said. The tractor-trailer was operated under Vaga Express of Duarte, Calif. Shaumyan was transporting fresh produce from Yuma, Ariz. to Bronx, N.Y.. Assisting at the scene were ISP Trooper Jim Wells and the US Secret Service. Comments are closed.
