News Writer Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY - A Linton man is facing multiple charges following a police pursuit in Sullivan County Sunday afternoon after a woman reported he was threatening her to use weapons at her home. Johnny Turpin Jr. , 30, was booked into the Sullivan County jail, where he is charged with domestic battery- with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; intimidation with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; theft of a firearm, a level 6 felony; and resisting a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office received a call from a female reporting the domestic situation involving her ex-husband, just before 2 p.m. Turpin allegedly threatened to use a pair of scissors to harm the victim, before taking her gun and allegedly saying he would shoot himself if she called for help, Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom said. "The female alleged Turpin held a pair of scissors to her throat, causing a slight incision. She went on to say the male had taken her 9mm handgun, and made threats to harm himself if she called the police," Cottom added. Turpin had fled the Sullivan residence in his pickup truck prior to officers' arrival. It was located a short time later, and a subsequent pursuit took place before Turpin was taken into custody.
