Man allegedly pulls gun on ISU student

UPDATE 9/22/15 from Indiana State University: An arrest was made in connection with the incident at Third and Chestnut streets on Monday night. Christopher Payne, 25, was arrested for theft, criminal recklessness, public intoxication, and false informing. Payne, who is not an ISU student, is suspected of stealing alcoholic beverages from Circle K. He was scheduled to appear in Terre Haute City Court this morning. A search of the area failed to turn up a weapon.

Indiana State University Police are investigating an incident where a man allegedly pulled a gun on a college student at a gas station tonight.

A female ISU student alerted authorities at about 8 p.m. that a black male, wearing a jacket, approached her and pulled a handgun out of his jacket and pointed it at her while outside the Circle K gas station across from campus on N. Third and Chestnut Streets.

Information is limited at this time, as the investigation is ongoing, but police reportedly reviewed video and have a suspect and witnesses. Police were seen checking the area for evidence immediately after the incident.
