VERMILLION COUNTY- An Illinois man was arrested when police say he crashed into a police car during a pursuit Thursday afternoon in Vermillion County.

According to the report, an Indiana State Police trooper initiated a traffic stop on the white KIA for speeding northbound on SR 63 near CR1250 S just before 1:30 p.m. The driver disregarded the emergency lights and fled in the car. He even continued to flee northbound on deflated tires after a tire deflation device was used. Sgt. Matt Ames explained that the suspect was clocked reaching speeds around 120 mph and only stopped when crashing into a sheriff's vehicle, which had joined in the police chase. "The vehicle eventually came to a stop when it struck a Vermillion County deputy’s patrol vehicle in the rear at SR 63 and US 136," Ames said.
