Indiana Central News PUTNAM COUNTY— An Indianapolis man was cited for driving while suspended and driving left of center after crashing into an Indiana State Police trooper's vehicle in Putnam County last night.
Neither the trooper nor the other driver required medical attention at the scene for minor complaints of pain.
According to the report, Trooper Ian Portteus was on routine patrol. when he stopped in the northbound left turn lane of US 231 at US 40 around 9:15 p.m. Craig Hodge, 44, was eastbound on US 40 in a red 2002 Chevrolet pickup pulling a dump trailer, when he attempted to turn right to head south on US 23. "In doing so, Hodge traveled left of center, striking the ISP 2017 Dodge Charger nearly head-on," ISP Sgt. Joe Watts said today, adding that Hodge stated a possible brake issue may have been a factor in the cause of the crash. The trooper's K-9 partner “Czar” was not injured in the crash. The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Kyle Hall. Assisting were ISP Trooper James Crisp, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Cloverdale Police Department, Putnam County Operation Life and Reelsville Fire/Rescue. Comments are closed.
