Indiana Central News WASHINGTON COUNTY - Washington County Coroner Peg Shell completed autopsies this morning on the three victims found murdered inside their rural Salem, Indiana home last Sunday evening. The victims -- two adults and one teen -- were all killed by gunshot wounds Sunday, according to the report. The relationship of the listed deceased victims is father, mother and son.
Specific details, including the locations where the bodies were found inside the home on South Becks Mill Road will not be released at this time, Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin said this afternoon. The suspect, Richard Lee Burton Jr. 47, had fled the scene and a manhunt ensued. Ulltimately, he was found dead inside his pickup truck in Monroe County the following morning, parked at a horse camp. Goodin explained in a previous press release that Burton had lived in the residence with the victims at the time of the murders. Burton's autopsy results are pending in Terre Haute at this time, however it appears he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing. -- See related story Comments are closed.
