![]() A Terre Haute man was booked into the Vigo County Jail after police allege he stabbed another man in the back on the north side today. Thomas Crews, 68 is facing a felony charge related to the incident. The victim, James R. Jenkins, 27, of Terre Haute, suffered non life-threatening injuries in the altercation and was reportedly treated at the scene by Terre Haute Fire Department personnel. He informed officials he would seek treatment on his own at an area hospital, according to Terre Haute Police Department Sgt. Michael Ellerman. Members of the THPD responded to the report of the stabbing in the 1500 block of north 28th Street this evening. When officers arrived on scene at 5:45 p.m., they discovered that Jenkins had been in a verbal argument in the middle of 28th Street with Mark Crews, 38, also of Terre Haute. Witnesses informed officers that while these men were exchanging words, Jenkins was stabbed in the upper back by the suspect, according to the report. "All parties involved were on scene when officers arrived and Thomas Crews was quickly taken into custody. He is charged with battery with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony. Thomas’ charge is pending in Div. 6 Court," Ellerman said. Comments are closed.
