Indiana Central News A New York trucker was arrested on drug charges after a routine inspection yielded $2 million worth of cocaine Sunday evening in Putnam County. Vikram Sandhu, 32, of Queens, was booked into the Putnam County Jail, where he is charged with dealing Narcotics, a Level 2 felony and possession of narcotics, a Level 3 felony. Indiana State Police conducted the motor carrier inspection on Interstate 70, near the forty-one mile marker, around 5:30 p.m. Troopers discovered the large amount of cocaine hidden in the semi. "During the search, the trooper discovered approximately 115 pounds of cocaine which, was located in the sleeper berth, ISP Sgt. Matt Ames said, adding that Sandhu was traveling from Houston to Indianapolis at the time of the incident. According to the report, suspicious activity was detected during interaction with the driver. A Putnam County Sheriff's Department K-9 was called for assistance and gave a positive alert for the odor of illegal drugs. Comments are closed.
