BROWN COUNTY —Indiana Conservation Officers were called to a state park to search for a missing horseman in the early morning hours yesterday following an alcohol- related altercation between a married couple. The Brazil, Ind. man reported missing was found several hours later and arrested for domestic battery.
Damion Brown, 41, was arrested and booked into the Brown County Jail for domestic battery. Brown and his wife Crystal Brown, 34, were made to leave Brown County State Park following investigation into the incident. Reportedly, the couple was staying in the Horseman’s Campground at Brown County State Park for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. A third camper joined them for a ride to the Story Inn that evening. According to an Indiana Department of Natural Resources press release this morning, a verbal and physical altercation occurred between the Browns, after a night of consuming alcohol, when Crystal attempted to provide assistance when Brown fell from his horse on the return trip to the campground. Crystal and the other camper then left Brown after the altercation and rode back to the campground leading Brown's horse. According to the press release, conservation officers and park personnel began the search for Brown at approximately 3 a.m. yesterday morning utilizing all terrain vehicles and a K-9 resource protection dog. At daylight, members of the Johnson County Mounted Sheriff’s reserves began assisting in the search. The search concluded at approximately 1 p.m. yesterday afternoon when Brown was found by other horse riders walking the trails. Assisting agencies included Brown County Sheriff Department and local EMS. The investigation is being led by Indiana Conservation Officer Brent Bohbrink. Comments are closed.
