A 19-year-old Indianapolis man was taken into custody after police allege the smell of marijuana was coming from inside the vehicle during a traffic stop last night.
Vaughn A. Dumas was booked into the Vigo County Jail at about 11:30 p.m. He is charged with: Operating while intoxicated- controlled substance; possession of marijuana; possession of paraphernalia; and possession of alcoholic beverages by a minor. Nicholas Freeman, 19, a front seat passenger, was cited and released for possession of paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by a minor, and minor consumption of alcohol. "A search of the vehicle yielded less than two grams of suspected marijuana, assorted paraphernalia, and alcoholic beverages," Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts said. According to the report, ISP Trooper Michael Organ was patrolling westbound on Wabash Avenue and stopped next to a silver 2006 Chevrolet Malibu that reportedly was in the westbound turn lane for southbound Sixth Street. "As the light turned green, instead of turning southbound as the lane indicated, the Malibu continued westbound through the intersection nearly sideswiping Trooper Organ," Watts said, adding the smell of burnt marijuana was allegedly emanating from inside the vehicle. The case was investigated by ISP Trooper Michael Organ. Assisting were Trooper Michael Taylor and Sergeant Joe Watts. Comments are closed.
