Indiana Central News CARLISLE - A man wanted on warrants in two states was taken into custody following a police chase in Sullivan County Friday afternoon. James “Mike” Shipman , 47, of Sullivan, had outstanding warrants in Indiana and Illinois. Shipman faces additional charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle after the pursuit and remains held in the Sullivan County Jail under a $32,000 bond. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office learned of that the wanted serious violent felon was possibly in the Carlisle area around 4:30 p.m. Sheriff Clark Cottom explains that Shipman drove away just after deputies spotted the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated, noting that the suspect's original charge was for possession of a handgun by a felon. A 25- minute pursuit ensued, through multiple fields and yards, before the vehicle eventually came to a stop, Cottom said. Shipman was taken into custody without incident. Sullivan County deputies were assisted by Sullivan City Police and the Dugger town marshal. Comments are closed.
