Indiana Central News SULLIVAN COUNTY -Two burglary suspects were arrested after allegedly breaking into a rural Carlisle home Easter Sunday. Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom said the man and woman were in the process of loading up their vehicle with various stolen items, including cash, jewelry and other property of value when officers arrived to the scene last night, where they were taken into custody. Cottom said the pair of suspects were bold in their efforts to rob the resident, noting that the suspects gained entry through a basement window of the residence after pulling into the garage and closing the overhead door --- so no one would see them load up their vehicle. "However, the most concerning part of the incident was that Lancaster was carrying a loaded handgun," Cottom said. "These desperate measures all add up to the recipe for a potentially deadly encounter." According to the report, Sullivan County 911 dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress around 7:20 p.m. The property owner had reportedly arrived to strange noises coming from his basement. "He quickly exited the home and called 911," Cottom said. Dugger Town Marshal Justin Todd arrived to the scene first and could hear noise coming from the outside of an exterior basement door. Officers from Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, Indiana State Police and Sullivan City Police Department arrived to assist at the scene a short time later. Comments are closed.
