UPDATE on CVS armed robbery by THPD Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson at 5:40 p.m:
Uniformed officers responded to an armed robbery call at CVS Pharmacy located at 905 Poplar St. Upon arrival around 12:40 a.m. at CVS, it was learned the that the suspect appeared to be a black male in his 20's, with an athletic build. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of items. If you have any information on this case you are asked to call the Terre Haute Police Department at 812-238-1661.
The Terre Haute Police Department is investigating reported cases of early morning theft at a couple of pharmacies. The instances do not appear to be related, however THPD crime scene technicians were called to process the scenes.
Information is limited at this time, as THPD detectives are working the cases.
According to scanner traffic a black male suspect guessed to be in 20s and wearing a black hoodie and dark pants had handed a CVS pharmacy staff member a note demanding prescription drugs.
At about 1 a.m. -- in the proximity of several blocks within 11th Street and Wabash Avenue -- officers searching that area for the suspect who had fled CVS on foot. They were reportedly able to find evidence at this location, including discarded empty medication bottles and a cap believed to be taken from the pharmacy -- including at least one for the prescription pain medicine Percocet. According to scanner traffic at that time,the suspect note was found as well.
According to Public Information Officer Ryan Adamson, uniformed officers of the THPD also responded to an alarm at Med-Pharm Pharmacy located at 2723 S Seventh Street just before 6 a.m.
"Upon arrival officers observed that the building had been burglarized, and immediately searched the building for suspects," he said, noting that no suspects were found, but the area had been disturbed.
